Delhi HC evacuated following possible bomb threat, Bom HC also discharged

The Delhi High Court was evacuated Friday, with all courts discharged for the day. Lawyers at the court premises told ET LegalWorld. Lawyers said the court may have received a bomb threat via email. This is not yet confirmed by official sources.

The Bombay High Court has also been vacated for the day, sources in the premises confirmed.

The evacuation began around 12:00 p.m., according to information provided. The building was cleared systematically, starting with the top floors and proceeding downward through each level.

Judges were informed of the threat and all personnel were asked to vacate the premises.

A bomb threat email (yet to be verified by official sources) was received by court officials Friday morning at 8:38 a.m., forwarded from an external email address to Delhi High Court staff members including administrative personnel. The email referenced planned explosive attacks and specifically mentioned that the Delhi High Court’s “Judge Chamber will detonate shortly after Mid-day Islamic Prayers.” The message also contained references to other locations and individuals.

All judicial proceedings for the day were suspended as a result of the threat and subsequent evacuation procedures.

The court building was fully evacuated as authorities responded to the security threat.
