VIJAYAWADA: Surrounded by his jubilious supporters, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday walked out of Rajahmundry jail after his release.

The high court has granted him interim bail in the Skill Development Scam Case.
The high court said that conditional bail is being granted only on medical grounds without going into the merits of the case.

The high court said that Naidu can get treatment at a hospital of his choice, and he should surrender before the jail authorities after four weeks.
Earlier , the TDP, in a statement, said that, the “truth finally prevailed”. “Despite all the efforts by the ruling YSRCP to constantly put N Chandrababu Naidu under scrutiny and label him as a criminal, they finally failed today. This shows how the YSRCP is afraid, scared, intimated and terrified of TDP,” the party said.

Andhra HC grants interim bail to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Skill Development Scam Case

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested Naidu on September 9 in the alleged skill development scam case. He was sent to judicial remand by the trial court. Naidu moved quash petition before the high court but it was rejected and the subsequent bail application was also dismissed by the trial court.
Naidu moved high court for bail and filed an interlocutory application for interim bail on medical grounds. Senior counsels Siddharth Luthra and Dammalapati Srinivas argued for Naidu stating that he needs treatment for existing ailments and also cataract surgery to his right eye.

On the other hand, additional advocate general P Sudhakar Reddy argued that Naidu is being given best medical care in Rajahmundry prison and there is no pressing need for surgery.
Considering the arguments on both sides, Justice T Mallikarjuna Rao allowed the interim bail application with an observation that the petitioner is entitled to get treatment at a hospital of his choice.
Justice Mallikarjuna Rao set out conditions for interim bail directing not to influence the witnesses in the case in any manner.
The details of treatment should be given to the Rajahmundry jail authorities at the time of his surrender after four weeks. A bail bond of Rs 1 lakh with two sureties of the like sum to the satisfaction of the trial court should be furnished, said the high court.
