Justice Bharati Dangre of the Bombay High Court recused herself from hearing a plea in an economic offence case and cited a letter delivered to her residence as the reason. The letter, sent by Hiten Thakkar, alleged that another judge had improperly recused themselves from the same plea. Justice Dangre referred to this as a tactic to manipulate justice and called for accountability for such actions. The Central Bureau of Investigation is expected to investigate the sender’s identity. The case involved allegations of excise duty evasion against the directors of Royal Distilleries Pvt Ltd and Khemani Distilleries.
