The Punjab & Haryana high court has criticized local police in Hoshiarpur for colluding with narcotics smugglers and intentionally not appearing as witnesses in a drug-related case. The court has ordered the Hoshiarpur SSP to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit an affidavit explaining the reasons for the non-appearance of the official witnesses.
